Making meat pies at home is obviously not easy because preparing the filling and the outer covering is very difficult. But if you follow the steps correctly and carefully, you can make this delicious dish at home in one go

Ingredients

Ingredients for Meat Pies
  •  500 grams minced beef (or minced lamb)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons plain flour
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 sheets puff pastry
  • 1 sheet shortcrust pastry (for the base)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash) 

Instructions

Heat Oil

Step 1 : Take a pan and heat some oil in it. Add the chopped onion and garlic to it and cook them until they turn golden and slightly soft

Browing the Beef

Step 2 : Cook minced beef in the same pan until it turns brown

Sprinkle flour on the beef so that the gravy becomes thicker inside the pie

Add Tomato Paste

Step 3 : Add the tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, beef stock, thyme, salt, and pepper to the beef and mix them well and cook on low flame for 10 minutes and then let it cool for sometime

Puff Pastry

Step 4 : Preheat your oven to medium heat and then put your puff pastry sheet in the muffin tray

Fill each of your puff pastry sheets with the beef mixture

Cover the pie base with another puff pastry sheet, press the edges and make a small cut on the top for heat escape.

Brushing with Beaten Eggs

Step 5 : Brush all the pies with beaten egg so it becomes shiny and golden

Pies with Sauce

Step 6 : Bake all the pies for 25 minutes and serve it with your favourite sauces
